Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Endeavour Mining PLC (LON:EDV), which rose 3.32% or 44.00 points to trade at 1,368.00 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 2.70% or 12.50 points to end at 476.10 and Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) was up 2.27% or 14.20 points to 640.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Entain PLC (LON:ENT), which lost 7.85% or 72.00 points to trade at 844.80 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 6.51% or 31.00 points to end at 445.00 and St. James's Place PLC (LON:SJP) shed 4.03% or 20.60 points to 491.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1042 to 705 and 703 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.39% or 29.15 to $2,124.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.11% or 0.89 to hit $79.08 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.66% or 0.55 to trade at $83.00 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.33% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 103.77.
