Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Real Estate and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BP PLC (LON:BP), which rose 2.41% or 9.30 points to trade at 395.95 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 2.30% or 18.00 points to end at 799.80 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) was up 2.17% or 63.00 points to 2,970.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 5.71% or 13.70 points to trade at 226.40 in late trade. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 5.48% or 5.21 points to end at 89.79 and Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) shed 4.53% or 35.60 points to 750.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1058 to 804 and 447 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.34% or 26.20 to $1,974.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 7.08% or 6.68 to hit $100.97 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 6.53% or 6.43 to trade at $104.91 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.35% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 100.22.
