Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Mining and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON:SLA), which rose 1.93% or 6.00 points to trade at 317.10 at the close. Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) added 1.72% or 126.0 points to end at 7440.0 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 1.68% or 11.00 points to 664.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which lost 6.09% or 104.00 points to trade at 1604.50 in late trade. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 3.61% or 31.80 points to end at 849.00 and Rosneft (LON:ROSNq) shed 3.34% or 0.25 points to 7.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1378 to 775 and 211 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.19% or 3.05 to $1573.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.84% or 0.43 to hit $50.52 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.49% or 0.27 to trade at $54.66 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.25% to 1.2896, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8487.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 98.575.
