Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Real Estate and Food Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV), which rose 2.04% or 14.20 points to trade at 711.00 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 1.75% or 5.50 points to end at 319.25 and NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG) was up 1.64% or 3.30 points to 204.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 7.19% or 24.90 points to trade at 321.30 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 4.35% or 38.20 points to end at 839.60 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) shed 3.52% or 59.00 points to 1618.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1374 to 767 and 239 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.62% or 11.25 to $1821.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.07% or 1.56 to hit $73.69 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.67% or 1.28 to trade at $75.21 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.31% to 1.3850, while EUR/GBP rose 0.18% to 0.8538.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 92.433.
