Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 6.84% or 121.50 points to trade at 1897.50 at the close. Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) added 2.91% or 21.60 points to end at 763.60 and Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) was up 2.75% or 37.50 points to 1402.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG), which lost 5.22% or 81.50 points to trade at 1479.50 in late trade. Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) declined 4.41% or 7.35 points to end at 159.45 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) shed 3.87% or 5.48 points to 136.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1317 to 688 and 450 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.19% or 3.45 to $1857.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 3.63% or 2.85 to hit $75.56 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 3.41% or 2.77 to trade at $78.47 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.14% to 1.3470, while EUR/GBP fell 0.28% to 0.8400.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 95.838.
