Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which rose 2.55% or 37.50 points to trade at 1508.50 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 2.06% or 17.40 points to end at 863.00 and National Grid PLC (LON:NG) was up 0.97% or 8.70 points to 905.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which lost 4.69% or 75.6 points to trade at 1535.2 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) declined 3.94% or 7.20 points to end at 175.72 and Informa PLC (LON:INF) shed 2.98% or 16.40 points to 533.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1076 to 922 and 461 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.09% or 1.65 to $1766.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.18% or 0.15 to hit $81.58 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.51% or 0.43 to trade at $84.43 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.17% to 1.3727, while EUR/GBP rose 0.31% to 0.8461.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 93.927.
