Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Tobacco, Automobiles & Parts and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were SKY PLC (LON:SKYB), which rose 8.61% or 136.50 points to trade at 1721.50 at the close. Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) added 6.03% or 297.00 points to end at 5220.00 and Informa Plc (LON:INF) was up 1.55% or 11.40 points to 746.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which lost 4.16% or 6.10 points to trade at 140.65 in late trade. Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK) declined 3.13% or 155.00 points to end at 4796.00 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 2.95% or 42.00 points to 1382.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1300 to 762 and 334 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.36% or 4.30 to $1205.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.23% or 1.58 to hit $72.36 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.76% or 2.16 to trade at $80.40 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.43% to 1.3125, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.8970.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 93.68.
