Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Fixed Line Telecommunications and General Retailers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS), which rose 2.53% or 68.0 points to trade at 2759.0 at the close. London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG) added 1.51% or 100.0 points to end at 6742.0 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) was up 1.02% or 1.80 points to 178.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 3.99% or 9.00 points to trade at 216.50 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 2.94% or 48.00 points to end at 1585.00 and Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq) shed 2.75% or 0.034 points to 1.200.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1245 to 713 and 463 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.50% or 8.90 to $1785.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.56% or 0.40 to hit $71.34 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.52% or 0.39 to trade at $74.81 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.42% to 1.3275, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8529.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 95.985.
