Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Real Estate and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 4.38% or 5.56 points to trade at 132.50 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 4.10% or 26.80 points to end at 680.60 and NK Rosneft PAO DRC (LON:ROSNq) was up 2.44% or 0.20 points to 8.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK), which lost 3.58% or 190.0 points to trade at 5114.0 in late trade. Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) declined 3.26% or 24.20 points to end at 718.80 and Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) shed 3.05% or 18.60 points to 592.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1242 to 737 and 448 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.19% or 3.35 to $1753.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.85% or 0.62 to hit $73.92 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.85% or 0.66 to trade at $77.91 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.22% to 1.3686, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8562.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 93.278.
