Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Industrial Transportation and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 1.78% or 8.40 points to trade at 480.70 at the close. Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) added 1.64% or 36.00 points to end at 2,229.00 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was up 1.48% or 1.12 points to 76.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Airtel Africa Plc (LON:AAF), which lost 5.17% or 6.00 points to trade at 110.00 in late trade. Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) declined 4.56% or 23.70 points to end at 496.30 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) shed 4.53% or 29.60 points to 623.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1157 to 656 and 657 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.14% or 3.45 to $2,526.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.80% or 0.56 to hit $69.78 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.71% or 0.52 to trade at $73.23 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.23% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.13% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 101.32.
