Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Mobile Telecommunications and Software & Computer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Frasers Group PLC (LON:FRAS), which rose 2.79% or 17.00 points to trade at 626.50 at the close. B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) added 2.17% or 7.70 points to end at 362.70 and Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) was up 2.04% or 8.00 points to 399.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT), which lost 2.25% or 58.00 points to trade at 2,516.00 in late trade. JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD) declined 2.16% or 2.10 points to end at 95.00 and Hiscox Ltd (LON:HSX) shed 1.99% or 22.00 points to 1,084.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 926 to 894 and 612 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.44% or 37.46 to $2,645.56 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.76% or 1.24 to hit $69.34 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.11% or 0.08 to trade at $72.80 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.84% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.72% at 107.37.
