Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Industrial Engineering and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV), which rose 1.81% or 10.00 points to trade at 563.00 at the close. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) added 1.27% or 23.50 points to end at 1869.00 and GlaxoSmithKline PLC (LON:GSK) was up 1.19% or 18.4 points to 1564.8 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 4.32% or 41.20 points to trade at 913.40 in late trade. Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) declined 4.19% or 71.50 points to end at 1633.50 and Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) shed 2.67% or 40.50 points to 1478.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1379 to 653 and 325 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.33% or 4.40 to $1318.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.25% or 0.13 to hit $52.51 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.19% or 0.12 to trade at $61.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.13% to 1.2936, while EUR/GBP rose 0.04% to 0.8759.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 96.377.
