Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Travel & Leisure and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 5.37% or 84.00 points to trade at 1649.50 at the close. Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) added 4.58% or 109.0 points to end at 2487.0 and Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL) was up 1.92% or 46.0 points to 2443.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 3.49% or 22.60 points to trade at 625.40 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) declined 3.35% or 6.10 points to end at 175.90 and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON:0593xq) shed 2.87% or 43.00 points to 1457.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1137 to 884 and 419 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.29% or 5.15 to $1760.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.11% or 0.09 to hit $80.61 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.25% or 0.21 to trade at $83.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.04% to 1.3600, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8484.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 94.453.
