Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Life Insurance/Assurance, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH), which rose 6.10% or 144.0 points to trade at 2503.0 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 5.49% or 59.00 points to end at 1133.50 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 4.76% or 29.80 points to 655.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO), which lost 4.46% or 49.40 points to trade at 1059.40 in late trade. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) declined 3.58% or 4.95 points to end at 133.35 and Direct Line Insurance Group PLC (LON:DLGD) shed 3.50% or 9.80 points to 270.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1338 to 764 and 207 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.61% or 8.85 to $1462.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.00% or 0.57 to hit $57.37 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.81% or 0.50 to trade at $62.56 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.01% to 1.2842, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8567.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 98.215.
