Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Beverage and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were M&G Plc (LON:MNG), which rose 2.37% or 4.70 points to trade at 203.00 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) added 1.77% or 8.10 points to end at 465.00 and BP PLC (LON:BP) was up 1.76% or 8.15 points to 470.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO), which lost 2.87% or 12.10 points to trade at 409.30 in late trade. Diploma PLC (LON:DPLM) declined 2.85% or 120.00 points to end at 4,090.00 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) shed 2.67% or 73.00 points to 2,657.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1175 to 661 and 675 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.05% or 1.10 to $2,326.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.40% or 1.81 to hit $77.34 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.15% or 1.71 to trade at $81.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.22% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 104.78.
