Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Oil & Gas Producers and Beverage sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 6.93% or 1,185.00 points to trade at 18,285.00 at the close. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) added 4.47% or 16.10 points to end at 376.70 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 3.42% or 20.50 points to 619.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prudential PLC (LON:PRU), which lost 3.40% or 22.60 points to trade at 642.20 in late trade. BP PLC (LON:BP) declined 2.41% or 9.90 points to end at 400.25 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) shed 2.41% or 40.50 points to 1,641.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 965 to 825 and 685 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.13% or 3.40 to $2,680.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.24% or 1.60 to hit $69.96 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.76% or 1.31 to trade at $73.16 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.56% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 100.53.
