Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Engineering, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Beazley PLC (LON:BEZG), which rose 10.75% or 68.50 points to trade at 705.50 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 8.26% or 152.00 points to end at 1,992.00 and Entain PLC (LON:ENT) was up 5.08% or 26.60 points to 550.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX), which lost 7.44% or 635.00 points to trade at 7,900.00 in late trade. United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) declined 4.37% or 44.20 points to end at 967.80 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) shed 4.01% or 5.45 points to 130.45.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1038 to 732 and 706 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.14% or 27.70 to $2,460.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.97% or 0.73 to hit $75.96 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.61% or 0.48 to trade at $78.81 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.39% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.50% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 103.07.
