Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Healthcare Equipment & Services and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 2.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT), which rose 7.33% or 55.00 points to trade at 805.80 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) added 5.62% or 476.00 points to end at 8,944.00 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) was up 5.41% or 12.20 points to 237.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD), which lost 0.76% or 0.90 points to trade at 117.82 in late trade. Avast PLC (LON:AVST) declined 0.56% or 2.80 points to end at 495.90 and AVEVA Group PLC (LON:AVV) shed 0.42% or 9.00 points to 2,130.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1403 to 426 and 442 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.77% or 13.98 to $1,810.62 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.94% or 4.18 to hit $110.31 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 3.65% or 3.92 to trade at $111.37 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.40% to 1.22, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.36% at 104.52.
