Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Oil & Gas Producers and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 8.12% or 12.40 points to trade at 165.10 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 7.83% or 52.80 points to end at 727.60 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 7.24% or 8.14 points to 120.58 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP), which lost 4.75% or 67.00 points to trade at 1,342.50 in late trade. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 4.47% or 86.50 points to end at 1,851.00 and Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) shed 4.14% or 161.00 points to 3,730.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 968 to 869 and 416 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.13% or 2.40 to $1,838.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.96% or 1.04 to hit $109.03 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.12% or 1.27 to trade at $114.39 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 1.22, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 104.20.
