Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Electrical and Support Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.28% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG), which rose 7.04% or 23.80 points to trade at 361.90 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 5.08% or 115.00 points to end at 2,380.00 and Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK) was up 4.26% or 205.00 points to 5,015.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Segro Plc (LON:SGRO), which lost 1.68% or 15.20 points to trade at 892.00 in late trade. Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) declined 1.41% or 8.00 points to end at 560.00 and Pershing Square Holdings Ltd (LON:PSHP) shed 1.20% or 46.00 points to 3,774.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1277 to 523 and 679 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.32% or 31.00 to $2,384.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.49% or 1.17 to hit $77.11 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.57% or 1.29 to trade at $81.08 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.29, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 104.04.
