Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Banking and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 5.08% or 69.00 points to trade at 1427.50 at the close. Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) added 4.98% or 24.30 points to end at 512.20 and Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN) was up 4.45% or 10.20 points to 239.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA), which lost 3.61% or 23.80 points to trade at 635.40 in late trade. Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) declined 2.55% or 16.60 points to end at 635.20 and AVEVA Group PLC (LON:AVV) shed 2.31% or 65.0 points to 2750.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1136 to 901 and 357 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.55% or 10.05 to $1851.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.27% or 1.89 to hit $85.20 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.78% or 1.52 to trade at $86.95 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.12% to 1.3501, while EUR/GBP fell 0.38% to 0.8363.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 96.035.
