Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, Aerospace & Defense and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 5.85% or 29.00 points to trade at 525.00 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 4.53% or 25.50 points to end at 588.50 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 4.53% or 80.50 points to 1,858.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SSE PLC (LON:SSE), which lost 2.73% or 54.50 points to trade at 1,942.00 in late trade. National Grid PLC (LON:NG) declined 2.62% or 27.50 points to end at 1,023.00 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) shed 2.46% or 1.92 points to 76.16.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1262 to 551 and 657 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.64% or 16.60 to $2,615.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.19% or 1.53 to hit $71.41 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.93% or 1.42 to trade at $75.07 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.54% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 100.45.
