Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Industrial Metals & Mining and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.93%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 8.20% or 55.20 points to trade at 728.60 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 4.49% or 44.60 points to end at 1,037.00 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) was up 3.59% or 57.00 points to 1,643.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML), which lost 7.65% or 144.00 points to trade at 1,738.00 in late trade. Aviva PLC (LON:AV) declined 1.46% or 5.80 points to end at 390.80 and Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) shed 1.26% or 13.00 points to 1,015.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1295 to 506 and 470 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.41% or 7.05 to $1,710.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 4.67% or 4.42 to hit $98.99 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 4.75% or 4.81 to trade at $105.97 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.07% to 1.20, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.83% at 107.01.
