Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Forestry & Paper, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 5.18% or 63.00 points to trade at 1280.00 at the close. Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) added 4.23% or 26.00 points to end at 640.50 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) was up 4.18% or 108.00 points to 2690.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM), which lost 1.08% or 7.00 points to trade at 643.00 in late trade. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) declined 1.07% or 13.00 points to end at 1198.00 and CRH PLC (LON:CRH) shed 0.92% or 26.00 points to 2811.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1269 to 751 and 401 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.51% or 6.49 to $1278.31 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.57% or 1.33 to hit $50.34 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.60% or 0.91 to trade at $55.88 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.98% to 1.3266, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.8853.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 93.40.
