Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mining, Beverage and Support Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.67% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO), which rose 8.77% or 29.90 points to trade at 371.00 at the close. Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) added 4.01% or 17.30 points to end at 448.80 and Informa PLC (LON:INF) was up 3.93% or 31.80 points to 841.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI), which lost 7.45% or 103.50 points to trade at 1,286.50 in late trade. Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON:SWR) declined 2.14% or 73.00 points to end at 3,340.00 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) shed 1.85% or 20.50 points to 1,085.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1031 to 745 and 688 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.57% or 15.25 to $2,706.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $70.42 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.09% or 0.07 to trade at $74.15 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.40% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 103.61.
