Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Electrical, Chemicals and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were RS Group PLC (LON:RS1R), which rose 3.69% or 26.00 points to trade at 731.00 at the close. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) added 3.51% or 61.00 points to end at 1,800.00 and Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL) was up 3.45% or 100.00 points to 2,998.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD), which lost 2.20% or 2.65 points to trade at 117.85 in late trade. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) declined 2.00% or 110.00 points to end at 5,400.00 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) shed 1.23% or 17.50 points to 1,404.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1165 to 619 and 713 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.64% or 14.90 to $2,343.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.78% or 0.62 to hit $80.34 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.80% or 0.67 to trade at $84.92 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.10% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 104.88.
