Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Industrial Metals & Mining and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.59% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV), which rose 3.40% or 18.20 points to trade at 554.00 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 2.81% or 11.35 points to end at 415.20 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 2.54% or 13.50 points to 545.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which lost 1.55% or 32.00 points to trade at 2,038.00 in late trade. Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX) declined 0.99% or 75.00 points to end at 7,495.00 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) shed 0.91% or 27.00 points to 2,933.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1188 to 593 and 699 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.24% or 6.05 to $2,543.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.88% or 1.42 to hit $74.12 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.90% or 1.51 to trade at $78.17 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.28% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 101.80.
