Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Support Services, Industrial Engineering and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO), which rose 7.77% or 34.80 points to trade at 482.90 at the close. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) added 3.18% or 22.20 points to end at 719.80 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) was up 2.46% or 63.00 points to 2,629.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 7.12% or 32.70 points to trade at 426.30 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) declined 3.41% or 5.80 points to end at 164.20 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) shed 1.95% or 12.00 points to 604.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1070 to 726 and 691 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.38% or 9.20 to $2,389.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.47% or 0.37 to hit $78.27 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.47% or 0.39 to trade at $82.24 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.29, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.03% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 104.10.
