Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Beverage sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICGIN), which rose 4.46% or 96.00 points to trade at 2,248.00 at the close. Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE) added 4.07% or 40.60 points to end at 1,038.00 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 3.66% or 19.00 points to 537.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included M&G Plc (LON:MNG), which lost 2.49% or 5.20 points to trade at 203.90 in late trade. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) declined 2.13% or 8.10 points to end at 372.00 and AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN) shed 2.10% or 258.00 points to 12,050.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1187 to 611 and 676 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.43% or 36.40 to $2,578.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.28% or 2.21 to hit $69.52 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.79% or 1.97 to trade at $72.58 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.37% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 101.50.
