Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Beverage sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rose 2.93% or 63.00 points to trade at 2,214.00 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 2.68% or 15.50 points to end at 593.00 and Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE) was up 2.41% or 25.00 points to 1,063.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD), which lost 5.79% or 4.44 points to trade at 72.20 in late trade. National Grid PLC (LON:NG) declined 4.17% or 37.60 points to end at 864.00 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) shed 3.45% or 27.80 points to 778.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 934 to 786 and 761 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.75% or 17.75 to $2,393.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.12% or 1.57 to hit $75.64 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.96% or 1.54 to trade at $79.95 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.22% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 104.21.
