Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Mining and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which rose 8.43% or 11.00 points to trade at 141.50 at the close. Entain PLC (LON:ENT) added 3.98% or 22.20 points to end at 580.40 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) was up 3.29% or 4.05 points to 127.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD), which lost 4.07% or 5.10 points to trade at 120.35 in late trade. B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) declined 2.22% or 10.10 points to end at 444.60 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) shed 2.02% or 13.80 points to 671.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1011 to 740 and 722 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.25% or 30.90 to $2,504.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.45% or 1.88 to hit $78.72 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.00% or 1.59 to trade at $81.25 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 102.98.
