Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Household Goods & Home Construction and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB), which rose 7.91% or 499.00 points to trade at 6810.00 at the close. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) added 4.96% or 11.15 points to end at 236.00 and Pearson PLC (LON:PSON) was up 3.64% or 33.60 points to 957.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CRH PLC (LON:CRH), which lost 1.83% or 49.00 points to trade at 2632.00 in late trade. British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) declined 1.48% or 62.00 points to end at 4115.00 and Relx PLC (LON:REL) shed 1.31% or 22.50 points to 1690.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1243 to 655 and 408 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.03% or 0.40 to $1225.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.43% or 0.30 to hit $69.31 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.19% or 0.14 to trade at $74.68 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.01% to 1.3110, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.8888.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 94.48.
