Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Life Insurance/Assurance and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 5.44% or 51.20 points to trade at 991.60 at the close. Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) added 4.90% or 6.90 points to end at 147.68 and Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) was up 4.26% or 2.14 points to 52.32 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Just Eat (LON:JE), which lost 6.58% or 50.00 points to trade at 710.00 in late trade. Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE) declined 4.10% or 28.40 points to end at 664.40 and Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) shed 4.08% or 105.00 points to 2470.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1111 to 1020 and 195 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.76% or 11.45 to $1499.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.16% or 0.09 to hit $57.76 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.16% or 0.10 to trade at $62.69 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.03% to 1.2341, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8942.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 98.377.
