Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Software & Computer Services, Beverage and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Informa PLC (LON:INF), which rose 4.78% or 25.40 points to trade at 556.40 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 3.63% or 73.00 points to end at 2086.00 and Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) was up 2.74% or 19.20 points to 720.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prudential PLC (LON:PRU), which lost 1.92% or 29.00 points to trade at 1481.00 in late trade. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 1.51% or 22.00 points to end at 1434.00 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) shed 1.17% or 26.50 points to 2231.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1265 to 732 and 445 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.02% or 0.45 to $1818.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.53% or 0.36 to hit $68.14 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.60% or 0.43 to trade at $71.20 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.27% to 1.3792, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.8596.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 92.398.
