Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Life Insurance/Assurance and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Prudential PLC (LON:PRU), which rose 4.11% or 44.50 points to trade at 1,128.50 at the close. Aviva PLC (LON:AV) added 3.38% or 14.40 points to end at 440.70 and Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) was up 3.31% or 1.61 points to 50.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA), which lost 4.38% or 29.60 points to trade at 646.80 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 3.88% or 29.00 points to end at 719.00 and CRH PLC (LON:CRH) shed 2.28% or 77.00 points to 3,308.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1110 to 771 and 444 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.39% or 7.60 to $1,921.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.15% or 0.17 to hit $110.14 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.61% or 0.70 to trade at $116.32 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.67% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.52% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 98.52.
