Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Household Goods & Home Construction and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD), which rose 9.99% or 9.34 points to trade at 102.80 at the close. Entain PLC (LON:ENT) added 5.56% or 42.00 points to end at 796.80 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 4.22% or 21.80 points to 538.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF), which lost 13.26% or 39.10 points to trade at 255.80 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 2.99% or 19.50 points to end at 633.00 and BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) shed 2.70% or 36.00 points to 1,297.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1128 to 673 and 654 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 2.92% or 79.85 to $2,657.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.64% or 1.88 to hit $69.36 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 2.41% or 1.80 to trade at $72.83 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.28% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.47% at 107.00.
