Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Banking and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.22%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG), which rose 3.45% or 11.80 points to trade at 354.30 at the close. Shell PLC (LON:SHEL) added 2.35% or 60.50 points to end at 2,638.00 and ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:CTEC) was up 2.08% or 4.60 points to 226.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BTRW), which lost 3.30% or 15.90 points to trade at 466.20 in late trade. Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN) declined 3.17% or 36.00 points to end at 1,101.00 and JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD) shed 3.14% or 4.35 points to 134.30.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 930 to 863 and 671 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.10% or 2.70 to $2,665.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.11% or 2.31 to hit $76.69 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.96% or 2.31 to trade at $80.36 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.36% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 102.21.
