Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Forestry & Paper, Construction & Materials and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP), which rose 2.49% or 5.20 points to trade at 214.00 at the close. CRH PLC (LON:CRH) added 2.33% or 63.00 points to end at 2761.00 and Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) was up 2.33% or 42.00 points to 1845.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN), which lost 3.55% or 102.00 points to trade at 2772.00 in late trade. Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) declined 3.51% or 113.00 points to end at 3105.00 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) shed 3.29% or 43.00 points to 1262.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1068 to 878 and 459 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.81% or 10.34 to $1286.14 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.14% or 0.08 to hit $57.28 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.47% or 0.30 to trade at $63.99 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.48% to 1.3104, while EUR/GBP rose 0.50% to 0.8845.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 94.78.
