Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Automobiles & Parts and Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.16% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN), which rose 1.74% or 11.40 points to trade at 666.60 at the close. Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) added 1.55% or 2.25 points to end at 147.05 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) was up 1.41% or 10.20 points to 734.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which lost 1.64% or 28.00 points to trade at 1,679.50 in late trade. Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) declined 1.62% or 11.60 points to end at 704.80 and Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) shed 1.54% or 6.70 points to 429.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 780 to 752 and 498 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.40% or 8.25 to $2,075.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.15% or 0.11 to hit $71.66 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.04 to trade at $77.11 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 100.90.
