Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Tobacco and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Frasers Group PLC (LON:FRAS), which rose 9.19% or 75.50 points to trade at 897.00 at the close. Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) added 4.88% or 18.40 points to end at 395.20 and JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD) was up 3.64% or 4.25 points to 120.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which lost 4.93% or 98.50 points to trade at 1,899.50 in late trade. Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) declined 3.77% or 21.40 points to end at 545.60 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) shed 3.68% or 17.90 points to 468.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1080 to 709 and 702 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.11% or 2.65 to $2,462.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.23% or 0.19 to hit $81.63 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.24% or 0.20 to trade at $85.28 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.25% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 103.72.
