Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW), which rose 3.69% or 7.20 points to trade at 202.30 at the close. Capita PLC (LON:CPI) added 3.38% or 4.25 points to end at 130.10 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 3.32% or 56.00 points to 1741.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD), which lost 4.26% or 8.82 points to trade at 198.38 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 3.38% or 43.50 points to end at 1243.00 and Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) shed 2.81% or 19.80 points to 684.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1019 to 940 and 327 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 2.00% or 26.40 to $1291.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.34% or 0.24 to hit $70.72 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.66% or 0.52 to trade at $78.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.35% to 1.3509, while EUR/GBP fell 0.27% to 0.8776.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.52% at 93.03.
