Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Aerospace & Defense sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were CRH PLC (LON:CRH), which rose 2.92% or 79.00 points to trade at 2784.00 at the close. Ferguson PLC (LON:FERG) added 2.79% or 133.00 points to end at 4898.00 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) was up 2.61% or 22.50 points to 884.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB), which lost 4.02% or 133.00 points to trade at 3172.00 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 1.80% or 22.00 points to end at 1201.00 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) shed 1.72% or 83.00 points to 4730.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1100 to 820 and 453 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.01% or 0.19 to $1287.61 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.50% or 0.78 to hit $51.36 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.16% or 0.67 to trade at $56.90 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.35% to 1.3431, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8769.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 93.08.
