Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Software & Computer Services, Food & Drug Retailers and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Barclays PLC (LON:BARC), which rose 4.16% or 9.90 points to trade at 248.05 at the close. Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR) added 2.94% or 137.00 points to end at 4,790.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 2.88% or 67.00 points to 2,390.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Schroders PLC (LON:SDR), which lost 2.65% or 9.60 points to trade at 353.20 in late trade. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) declined 2.40% or 45.50 points to end at 1,847.00 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) shed 1.87% or 20.00 points to 1,051.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 930 to 846 and 683 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.42% or 11.50 to $2,740.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.33% or 0.94 to hit $69.83 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.20% or 0.90 to trade at $74.06 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 104.06.
