Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Mobile Telecommunications and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 4.23% or 43.00 points to trade at 1060.00 at the close. British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) added 2.25% or 14.00 points to end at 636.00 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) was up 2.14% or 45.00 points to 2145.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pearson PLC (LON:PSON), which lost 6.67% or 45.50 points to trade at 637.00 in late trade. Aviva PLC (LON:AV) declined 2.83% or 15.00 points to end at 514.50 and Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) shed 2.33% or 200.00 points to 8385.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 996 to 980 and 456 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.41% or 5.15 to $1253.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.06% or 0.54 to hit $51.69 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.51 to trade at $54.87 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.02% to 1.2481, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8537.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 100.54.
