Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Electricity, Information Technology and Sports sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 declined 5.05% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Koza Madencilik (IS:KOZAA), which rose 10.53% or 0.240 points to trade at 2.520 at the close. Ipek Dogal Enerji (IS:IPEKE) added 8.63% or 0.240 points to end at 3.020 and Koza Altin (IS:KOZAL) was up 7.63% or 2.00 points to 28.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tumosan Motor Ve Traktor (IS:TMSN), which lost 18.92% or 1.370 points to trade at 5.870 in late trade. Vestel (IS:VESTL) declined 17.50% or 0.770 points to end at 3.630 and Galatasaray Sportif (IS:GSRAY) shed 16.95% or 4.55 points to 22.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 397 to 14 and 3 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.33% or 3.90 to $1172.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.49% or 0.88 to hit $58.25 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.07% or 0.68 to trade at $62.63 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 3.64% to 2.7582, while EUR/TRY rose 4.75% to 3.1008.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.78% at 95.63.
