Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Telecoms and Transport sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 declined 0.97%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Galatasaray Sportif (IS:GSRAY), which rose 19.30% or 6.30 points to trade at 38.95 at the close. Fenerbahce Futbol (IS:FENER) added 17.69% or 7.05 points to end at 46.90 and Eczacibasi Ilac (IS:ECILC) was up 8.79% or 0.270 points to 3.340 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ipek Dogal Enerji (IS:IPEKE), which lost 5.30% or 0.150 points to trade at 2.680 in late trade. Hurriyet Gzt. (IS:HURGZ) declined 4.00% or 0.030 points to end at 0.720 and Besiktas Futbol Yat. (IS:BJKAS) shed 3.12% or 0.07 points to 2.17.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 256 to 143 and 17 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.17% or 2.00 to $1208.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.41% or 0.82 to hit $58.81 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.38% or 0.89 to trade at $64.91 a barrel.
USD/TRY was down 0.46% to 2.5816, while EUR/TRY fell 1.04% to 2.8621.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.39% at 95.74.
