Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Metals, Banking and Real Estate Investments sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 lost 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Afyon Cimento (IS:AFYON), which rose 17.91% or 3.25 points to trade at 21.40 at the close. Vestel Beyaz Esya (IS:VESBE) added 8.56% or 1.100 points to end at 13.950 and Ihlas Holding (IS:IHLAS) was up 4.35% or 0.010 points to 0.230 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tav Havalimanlari (IS:TAVHL), which lost 2.64% or 0.60 points to trade at 22.15 in late trade. Emlak Konut Gmyo (IS:EKGYO) declined 2.54% or 0.070 points to end at 2.690 and Migros Ticaret (IS:MGROS) shed 2.37% or 0.50 points to 20.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 222 to 185 and 9 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.22% or 2.60 to $1169.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 3.03% or 1.80 to hit $57.67 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.58% or 1.00 to trade at $62.59 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 0.49% to 2.6945, while EUR/TRY fell 0.11% to 2.9862.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 96.28.
