Investing.com – Turkey equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Wholesale & Retail Trade and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 gained 2.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Yapi ve Kredi Bankasi AS (IS:YKBNK), which rose 8.37% or 2.38 points to trade at 30.80 at the close. Akbank TAS (IS:AKBNK) added 7.97% or 4.80 points to end at 65.05 and Turkiye Garanti Bankasi (IS:GARAN) was up 5.38% or 6.80 points to 133.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Katilimevim Tasarruf Finansman AS (IS:KTLEV), which lost 4.95% or 2.75 points to trade at 52.75 in late trade. Papilon Savunma Guvenlik Sistemleri (IS:PAPIL) declined 2.21% or 0.29 points to end at 12.82 and Oyak Cimento Fabrikalari AS (IS:OYAKC) shed 2.17% or 0.52 points to 23.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 437 to 123 and 22 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $2,633.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.09% or 0.06 to hit $70.10 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.24% or 0.90 to trade at $73.22 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 1.18% to 35.20, while EUR/TRY rose 1.33% to 36.65.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 108.00.
