Investing.com – Turkey equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Wholesale & Retail Trade, Basic Metals and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 gained 0.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Mavi Giyim Sanayi Ve Ticaret AS (IS:MAVI), which rose 5.48% or 2.30 points to trade at 44.30 at the close. Petkim Petrokimya Holding AS (IS:PETKM) added 5.10% or 0.250 points to end at 5.150 and Kordsa Global Endustriyel Iplik ve Kord Bezi Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (IS:KORDS) was up 4.95% or 0.33 points to 6.99 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ICBC Turkey Bank AS (IS:ICBCT), which lost 7.80% or 0.460 points to trade at 5.440 in late trade. SASA Polyester Sanayi AS (IS:SASA) declined 5.54% or 0.540 points to end at 9.210 and TAV Havalimanlari Holding (IS:TAVHL) shed 4.82% or 1.06 points to 20.94.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 197 to 144 and 61 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.09% or 1.20 to $1289.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.35% or 0.25 to hit $71.06 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.29% or 0.23 to trade at $78.20 a barrel.
USD/TRY was down 0.68% to 4.4173, while EUR/TRY fell 1.13% to 5.2072.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 93.38.
