Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 rose 1.98%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Eurocash SA (WA:EUR), which rose 7.14% or 3.50 points to trade at 52.50 at the close. Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SA (WA:BHW) added 5.18% or 3.30 points to end at 67.00 and Enea SA (WA:ENAE) was up 4.98% or 0.53 points to 11.18 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGHM), which lost 2.74% or 1.67 points to trade at 59.38 in late trade. mBank (WA:MBK) declined 2.47% or 8.00 points to end at 316.00 and LPP SA (WA:LPPP) shed 1.62% or 89.40 points to 5423.05.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 300 to 258 and 115 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 2.34% or 0.83 to $34.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.52% or 0.20 to hit $37.20 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 2.45% or 26.40 to trade at $1050.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.09% to 4.2977, while USD/PLN rose 0.91% to 3.9779.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.95% at 99.34.
